Old School Theatre
When Madeleine is confronted by Frances, the wife of the man with whom she had a torrid, adulterous affair over 40 years, the air is fraught with tension and unresolved emotions. Over the course of 36 hours the two women reflect on their lives and perceived relationship with the man they both loved.
Originally playing to sell out audiences in The West End with Judi Dench and Maggie Smith in 2002, this new production is a rare chance to revive a seminal performance. Directed by Henry Tebbutt, Suzannah Pickering and Nina Trebilcock brilliantly reprise the two middle-aged women going head to head, trying to make sense of the deceit, hopes, dreams and the naivety of youth. Together they explore the shared experience of loving the same man.
