In 1964 Patricia Highsmith – famous writer of Strangers on a Train and The Talented Mr Ripley – moves to England and buys a cottage in Earl Soham intending to base her next novel in Suffolk. 
There she meets Ronald Blythe – who counts among his friends Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears  – and is working on his new novel Akenfield
Two writers – two imaginations – anything could happen!

Lady J hosts a selection of her favourite regional acts across music, spoken word and improv. Expect an eclectic night of entertainment that will leave you feeling all warm inside from an evening well spent in the company of some of our region’s finest!

Coming from a family of strong musicians, Carl first started playing the piano at was six years old. He had classical lessons to the age of twelve, going on later to win ‘Young Musician Of The Year’. By eighteen, Carl had mastered the art of playing boogie woogie piano – relying on a strong left hand and a quick technique. Since 2007 he has been one of the resident pianists at Jools Holland’s live music venue ‘The Jam House’ in Birmingham. Tonight he is joined by drummer George Double for an evening of rock and roll & boogie woogie. Get your dancing shoes on!

The Allure of Miss Lee explores the life and songs of jazz icon, Peggy Lee. From humble beginnings in North Dakota Peggy Lee proved that ambition, drive and sheer hard work paid dividends. She became a prolific songwriter, was in the entertainment industry for over 60 years and is known as one of the great female jazz innovators.

Performing some of Peggy Lee’s original arrangements, Catherine is backed by an excellent quartet led by Paul Higgs on piano and trumpet.
